Tan Man Turns TWO!

Since Tanner is turning 2 this week, I think I have the right as his Mommy to do a bragging blog or a BLAG (as my sister says). Tanner is such a sweet little guy who loves to give hugs and high-fives. I can’t believe he’s already 2! In some ways it’s gone by fast, in some ways very slow, but all I know is that I can’t imagine my life without him! He is such a blessing to us.

Here are a couple videos of Tan Man…
Tanner can beat you down the stairs any day of the week!

Tanner started skateboarding at 13 months. He picked up on it from all the neighbor boys. He loves it!

Tanner also loves basketball. He has a killer left arm shot! He makes Daddy so proud!

Chinese Chicken Salad

Okay, I have a personal goal to try making ONE new recipe every month. Last Friday I decided to bring one of my favorites that my mom makes to a baby shower. Big success, everyone loved it. CAUTION: This is girl food! My dad, brother and husband do not like this salad. Mark my words; I will never serve this salad to another man in fear of wasting a delicious bite on ungrateful taste buds. This recipe is easy and delicious!!!

Chinese Chicken Salad - RECIPE
Shred 1 head of cabbage, combine with 1-2 chopped onions, or 1-2 T Grated or ¼ chopped dry onion. Add 2 cups shredded chicken breasts (may use more chicken if you like). Set aside.
Brown in saucepan… in ½ cube margarine:
- 3 pkg top ramen noodles (crumbled finely)
- ½ cup sliced almonds
- 2 T sesame seeds
(Brown till lightly browned)
Add:
- 3 pkg ramen noodles seasoning packets (chicken flavored)
- ½ cup Salad Oil (canola)
- ½ cup Sugar
- ¼ cup Vinegar
Pour dressing over noodles – mix and then combine with cabbage and chicken mix – refrigerate. Best when served after 3-4 hours of refrigeration. Keeps well 2-3 days.

Nana & Papa’s Visit

Well, we were recently lucky enough to have Jer’s parents come visit from CA. Being Spring Break, I was off work, so we were extra excited and we made sure to plan a lot of fun, new adventures and outings. The weather forecast was looking promising and the day they were to arrive was getting closer. And then Sunday evening I GOT SICK. A long 24 hours later I started feeling better and JER GOT SICK. A long 24 hours later and he started feeling better and TANNER GOT SICK. The next day was Wednesday and they were to arrive at noon. They arrived and we decided to stay at home for Tanner’s sake. The next day was Thursday and Tanner was filling better (at least his diapers weren’t as toxic). We decided to venture out to a Park and to Chipotle for dinner. The Park was a blast, and Chipolte… not so much. Let’s just say poor Tanner’s stomach wasn’t quite ready for beans and rice… it wasn’t a pretty picture and I wouldn’t be surprised if we get kicked out next time we show our faces there. Anywho, the next day was Friday and NANA WOKE UP SICK. She stayed in the guest room all day and all night and was soon greeted by PAPA WHO GOT SICK that same day. We felt so bad they got sick, but Papa kept saying, “we knew what it was when we picked it up.” Anywho, after everyone returned to their full health we were able to squeeze in a few yummy snacks that our stomachs could handle and a few games of Clue, Yahtzee, Mormon Bridge, and Phase Ten. Even though we didn’t get to go on any of our fun adventures, we still had a blast hanging out with Nana and Papa. Maybe one day we’ll be able to look back on this and laugh.
